The Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM Lens will help all photographers achieve outstanding results while still shooting in hand-held format. The Image stabilisation dramatically reduces camera shake and Canon's 4 stop IS has been designed, specifically for the exact focal length of the lens. The technology allows shutter speeds up to four stops slower than would otherwise be possible, with no perceptible increase in image blur. Shooting a 300mm frame without a tripod at 1/500s can obtain the equivalent result with a shutter speed of just 1/60s. Automatic panning detection on the Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM Lens helps enormously when tracking a moving subject and results are clearly visible through the camera's viewfinder. Tripod detection on the Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM Lens automatically switches off the the image stabalisation, when the lens is supported. The Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM Lens has two UD elements, which helps to eliminate chromatic aberrations and allows optimum image sharpness. The L-series quality of the lens, means a more robust lens with dust and moisture resistannt seals and excellent handling capabilities. Canon's Super Spectra coatings ensure accurate colour balance and enhanced contrast whilst also reducing flare and ghosting, a common problem caused in digital photography, by light bouncing off a camera's sensor. The almost circular diaphragm on the Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM Lens enhances background blur, which makes the subject stand out of the picture, creating an almost 3D effect.
