In a bid to tempt in new players, developer Omega Force has crafted the game's story around an amnesiac original protagonist who guides the player through first meetings with legendary figures such as Guan Yu, Dong Zhuo, and the formiddable Lü Bu. The game's writing has been beefed up, with a renewed emphasis on character and narrative, adding depth to the series' coverage of this period. Gameplay is true to form - you'll stride across the battlefield, carving through hundreds of enemies like a hot knife through butter. It's a strangely zen-like experience that has earned the series its dedicated following. And, as you go, uncover the memories and identity of your mysterious new protagonist.
