Item Description

I like a bit of chorus. It’s a strange guitar effect that feels alien but altogether comforting and familiar at the same time. From The Police to The Cure to Metallica, the modulating signals of a good chorus effect have added warmth and character to many a guitar tone. But what of Dead Beats’ own Wet Dreams chorus pedal? This dinky little box is subtle and unassuming, with its metal shell of void black affected by an almost neon blue Wet Dreams insignia. It looks cool and slots nicely into a pedal board. The three knobs are sturdy and arranged in an arc over the logo, which adds a nice shape to the unit. The body isn’t the only place where the Wet Dreams is subtle and unassuming. In terms of sound, the Wet Dreams chorus isn’t a pedal prepared to punch you in the face, rather it provides a gentle and quieter chorus that more finishes off your sound rather than defines it. The major flaw here is that the Wet Dreams literally lowers the volume when engaged. It sound great, providing a range of chorus strengths with the depth and speed knobs adjusted to your liking? But even with the level knob maxed out, the Wet Dreams cuts the volume just a tad. This is especially noticeable with dirt, too. Overall, I really like the Wet Dreams – it looks great, it sounds great, it’s practical – but as a guitarist who plays with far more dirt than clean, it isn’t a pedal I can justify keeping on my busy pedal board.
