To do so, you'll need to get allies, complete missions, build up your resources, outfit your army for war, and take down any and all that dare to stand in your way. The Cold War serves as a perfect backdrop for Metal Gear Solid 5 : The Phantom Pain, as the threat of nuclear destruction and the desire to wipe out enemies hangs high into the air. The game doesn't just give you a wartime experience, it delves deep into what war is, and what it does to people, including yourself. The open world of Metal Gear Solid 5 : The Phantom Pain gives you true freedom. Take on missions as you see fit, and with whatever you want to bring to bear. You decide how the story progresses, and in the end, you'll understand the truth of what's really been going on this whole time.
