Item Description

Featuring a 250mm focal length with a maximum aperture of f/5.6, the Sonnar T* delivers exceptional subject isolation and natural background compression. Despite its long reach, the lens maintains a relatively compact form factor, making it practical for handheld use in portrait, fashion, nature, industrial, and editorial photography. The optical design uses 4 elements in 3 groups based on the legendary Sonnar formula originally developed by Dr. Ludwig Bertele. The simplified optical path minimizes internal reflections and contributes to the lens’s high contrast, rich micro-detail, and characteristic Zeiss rendering. Modern versions include the famous T* multicoating for improved flare resistance and color fidelity. Mounted on Hasselblad 500-series cameras, the 250mm focal length provides an angle of view roughly equivalent to a 135mm lens on full-frame 35mm format, making it especially attractive for tightly framed portraits and compressed landscape compositions.
