Infinity Ward, arguably the GOAT when it comes to building Call of Duty games, is back at the helm with Modern Warfare 4, the strain of CoD that goes for a slightly more believable, contemporary take on the shoot-'em-up series that sets the bar for the genre. This game takes a slightly more humanitarian approach on the story front, occasionally placing you behind the sights of enemy soldiers for some... let's say 'interesting' ethical decisions during gameplay. The action, of course, is as kinetic and explosive as ever. In campaign mode, some highlights include a shootout in a club that's reminiscent of John Wick, a section in a trainyard that will make you pine for the days of lightguns, and a car chase through Paris. Online Multiplayer is, of course, just as slick as you want it to be. Infinity Ward has this competitive ballet of bullets and fury down to a fine art at this point. It introduces some novelty, though, in the form of Kill Block, which rotates different 'slabs' into the combat arena to form 500+ different combinations. It plays havoc with the lines of sight that dominate CoD multiplayer, forcing you to get back to basics and really wrap your arms around the different systems Modern Warfare has to offer.
