Item Description
When Len Wein, John Romita Sr. and Herb Trimpe created Wolverine back in 1974 the state of the art in video games was still Pong, so they had no idea they were creating the perfect protagonist for a modern blockbuster. A prototypical hacker and slasher, able to absorb huge amounts of damage, handy tools for climbing that come right out of his hands, a temper that's positively BUILT for a rage meter, a mysterious past, a predisposition towards existential ennui - it's all there! And it's all here, in Insomniac Games' latest AAA offering, Marvel's Wolverine. This is the team, of course, behind Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and a host of classic priors, so the combo of pedigree and character speaks for itself. In the game's somewhat alternate take on the Marvel Universe, Wolvie's making a return to his squad, Team X, led by the mysterious nineteenth psychic Nathaniel Essex, after a few years away. He's just in time, because the mutant-hating Bolivar Trask is kidnapping mutants, and someone has to save them. Wolverine is a tighter, more international affair than the Spider-Man games, focusing closely on narrative and big action. You'll roam locations like Canada, Japan, and the Marvel island nation of Madripoor, teaming up with some familiar faces along the way. Combat is fast and fluid, building to explosive bursts of rage and allowing you to customise Logan with swappable Techniques and Adaptations to stalk, ambush, or overpower foes. The game uses every trick in the PS5's kit, too, with visceral feedback through the DualSense wireless controller and lush visuals thanks to enhanced PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution
