The legendary Sovtek “Civil War” Big Muff from 1991 gets a modern makeover with the new Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff Pi, combining the iconic blue and grey aesthetic with advanced sound-shaping capabilities. This pedal builds upon the same circuit foundation as the revered “Tall Font Green Russian” and EHX Green Russian Big Muff models, maintaining that signature big, woolly tone characterised by devastating low end, crisp highs and non-scooped mids. The familiar Sustain, Tone and Volume controls remain at the heart of the pedal, but the Deluxe version significantly expands your tonal palette with professional-grade features. The parametric MIDS EQ section offers precise frequency control from 310Hz to 5.0kHz with up to 10dB of boost or cut, plus a high/low Q switch for bandwidth adjustment. A dedicated footswitch with status LED allows instant MIDS EQ bypass, while an expression pedal input lets you sweep the EQ frequency for wah and cocked wah effects. Additional features include a noise gate to eliminate unwanted hiss and hum, a blend control that mixes dry and distorted signals (particularly useful for bass players wanting to retain low-end clarity), and the WICKER switch that opens up high-frequency bandwidth for enhanced attack or maintains the traditional Green Russian character. True bypass circuitry preserves signal integrity, while internal trim pots and an input buffer switch provide further customisation options for discerning players seeking ultimate tonal control.
