The AKG C460B with CK61 capsule is a professional small diaphragm condenser microphone system, widely respected for its accuracy, low noise, and modular flexibility. Originally part of AKG’s Condenser Modular Series, it remains a sought-after vintage studio and live recording mic. The C460B preamp body pairs with interchangeable capsules, with the CK61 cardioid capsule being one of the most popular for its flat frequency response and focused pickup pattern—ideal for capturing instruments and vocals with clarity and precision. This setup delivers a natural, detailed sound, making it suitable for acoustic instruments, overheads, and professional recording environments. It features low self-noise (~14dBA) and a wide dynamic range, allowing it to handle both quiet and loud sources effectively. The microphone also includes onboard controls such as a -10dB pad and bass-cut filters (70Hz / 150Hz), giving added flexibility in different recording situations.
