Item Description

The original launch model of the PlayStation features a distinct, boxy geometric design molded in a matte light-grey plastic finish. • Top Panel: Dominated by a large, circular mechanical flip-top disc cover in the center. It features three prominent buttons: a large Power button on the left, a Reset button, and an Open button on the right to release the disc lid. In 2000, Sony released a significantly redesigned, miniaturised variant known as the PS one. Functional Purpose & Internal Tech The internal architecture of the PS1 was engineered explicitly to handle mass-market real-time 3D environments. • The CD-ROM Paradigm: Opting for CD-ROMs rather than cartridges allowed game developers to access up to 660 megabytes of storage. This enabled massive audio soundtracks, orchestral scores, and high-fidelity Full Motion Video (FMV) cinematic cutscenes. • The Laser & Buffer Architecture: The system functions using a high-powered 300-milliwatt laser pickup assembly to read data as the disc spins at up to 500 RPM. To prevent skipping or crashing if the console was bumped, Sony integrated a 512 KB RAM bed by a 32-bit. • Core Hardware Specs: It is powerRISC R3000 CPU operating at 33.87 MHz, paired with 2 MB of main RAM and 1 MB of dedicated VRAM, capable of rendering roughly 360,000 polygons per second Console and controller only. Slightly discoloured due to ages. Comes with 12 months warranty.
