The PlayStation Portal Midnight Black is a handheld remote player designed exclusively for streaming your PlayStation 5 games. Released in February 2025 as part of Sony's Midnight Black Collection, this sleek cosmetic variation retains the exact technical specifications of the original white model but wraps the frame in an all-black aesthetic. Display: 8-inch Full HD LCD touchscreen running at 1080p resolution and a smooth 60fps. Controls: Implements full DualSense controller capabilities, including immersive haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Connectivity: Utilizes Wi-Fi 5 to stream directly from your console. It requires a connection speed of at least 5Mbps, though 15Mbps is recommended for smooth performance. Cloud Streaming: An integrated system update allows PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to stream a selective library of games directly from cloud servers without needing a physical PS5 console turned on. Audio: Features a 3.5mm headphone jack and proprietary PlayStation Link technology for low-latency audio. It does not support standard Bluetooth headsets. Battery: Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery delivering roughly 5 to 6 hours of continuous playtime depending on screen brightness and haptics usage.
